In our first blog post, we introduce the ski resorts around STAY Moiwayama!

Within a 30-minute drive, you can reach three ski resorts, including the nearby Sapporo Moiwayama, Sapporo Bankei, and Fu's Snow Area. A little further afield, you'll find Sapporo Teine in about 40 minutes and Sapporo Kokusai in about an hour. The roads to all destinations are well signposted, making STAY Moiwayama ideal for anyone planning a ski vacation! It's also recommended to stay several nights and explore the various ski resorts in Sapporo.

Incidentally, both ski resorts offer rentals of skis, snowboards, ski boots, clothing, etc. (only Mt. Moiwa does not offer snowboard rentals this season). So you can enjoy night skiing without worry if you spontaneously feel like it during your stay at STAY Moiwayama. Of course, you can also book online in advance. So why not simply arrive without equipment and enjoy the slopes?

[Sapporo Moiwa Ski Resort] Approximately 10 minutes from STAY Moiwayama

This ski resort is well-known among Sapporo residents. Due to a change in management, snowboarding is permitted this season. Recently, a visitor from the United States visited Moiwa Mountain and was delighted.

The lower section is wide and relatively flat, making it suitable for families and beginners. However, if you go uphill and turn right onto "Usagidaira",

Caution! This is a challenging route with uneven slopes and steep climbs, so it's shocking when beginners make a mistake (lol).

Therefore, we recommend the Sapporo Moiwayama ski area. It offers excellent conditions for both beginners and advanced skiers, features north- and south-facing slopes, and is relatively large. Another plus is its proximity to STAY Moiwayama, from where you can enjoy the beautiful view of Sapporo at night! By the way: Hokkaido residents receive a discount on lift tickets with the "Doumin Discount."

This ski resort is located right next to STAY Moiwayama and offers excellent facilities including restaurants, lifts, and night skiing. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, there are areas where children can playfully try out snow sports like sledding. Various ski and snowboard competitions are held here regularly, and in the summer, the resort puts on spectacular fireworks displays.

[Fu’s Snow Area] ~ About 30 minutes from STAY Moiwayama

The ski resort in the Fujino district of Minami City has three lifts and a relatively small ski area, but offers more affordable lift tickets and equipment compared to other resorts (almost half the price of Moiwa and Bankei!). Parking is also free, making this resort a highly recommended option for those who want to enjoy skiing and snowboarding on a budget.

[Sapporo Teine Ski Resort] ~ About 40 minutes from STAY Moiwayama

The Sapporo Teine ski resort is located about 40 minutes north of STAY Moiwayama. It is a full-fledged ski resort with a variety of slopes and the spaciousness typical of Hokkaido. It served as a competition venue during the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics.

The ski resort consists of two areas: the "Olympia Zone" with its gentle slopes for beginners and the "Highland Zone" with its long runs and varied pistes that also appeal to advanced skiers. This offers a wide range of options for skiers and snowboarders of all abilities! From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of Sapporo and the Sea of Japan. In good weather, you can ski down the slopes while admiring the spectacular views – one of the main attractions. Thanks to comprehensive equipment rentals and numerous ski schools, tourists and visitors from all over the world can enjoy Hokkaido's winter sports opportunities without a care in the world.

[Ski Resort Sapporo Kokusai] About 40 minutes from STAY Moiwayama

Although Sapporo Kokusai Ski Resort is located within the city limits of Sapporo, it sits deep in the mountains. This makes it a fully-fledged ski resort where you can enjoy some of the best powder snow conditions in Hokkaido. The high altitude and consistent snow quality ensure a long season, and on clear days, the summit offers spectacular views of Ishikari Bay and the majestic mountains. The slopes range from wide, gentle runs for beginners to challenging, long descents for intermediate and advanced skiers, so there's something for every skill level. A comfortable gondola provides easy access to the summit. This ski resort offers tourists and international visitors an unforgettable, carefree skiing experience in Hokkaido.

Sapporo, the vibrant capital of Hokkaido, captivates visitors with its lush natural beauty and offers ideal conditions for winter sports. Spend unforgettable days away from everyday life with STAY Moiwayama!
