This time, we're featuring a recommended day trip through South Sapporo, starting right from STAY Moiwayama! The route, easily manageable by car in just over an hour, takes you to various sights, including Sapporo's famous tourist attractions like Hitsujigaoka Lookout Hill and the Sapporo Dome. You can also expect fishing opportunities, culinary delights, nature experiences, and art – a truly diverse tour. Make the most of your time and schedule!

Please note that while the route has been planned taking the park's opening hours into account, these can vary depending on the season. We therefore recommend that you check before your departure. (The arrival times indicated are approximate.)
9:00 AM Start from the Hitsujigaoka observation deck!

In the morning we visited the Hitsujigaoka observation deck.
This is definitely a classic place to experience the "Hokkaido feeling". The wide-open landscape and the sense of freedom are wonderful, and if you go first thing in the morning, the air is fresh and invigorating.
You can start your day in a relaxed way by taking photos in front of the statue of Dr. Clark or simply enjoying the scenery.

10:00 AM To the observation deck of the Sapporo Dome

Next, we went to the Daiwa House Premier Dome (Sapporo Dome).
Although it's primarily known as an event venue, the view from the observation deck is also very nice. It's conveniently located near the Hitsujigaoka observation deck, making it easy to stop by on the way there.
It's a place you can visit spontaneously at any time and enjoy even in a short amount of time.
11:15 am Fishing at Hayashichu Fishing Pond
Late in the morning we went to the fishing pond in the forest.
Hayashichu Fishing Pond is a place where you can fish for trout amidst nature, and one of its attractions is that you can eat the fish you catch right there.
This place is so popular because you can catch lots of fish here. And you can grill and eat your catch. You can also bring your own food and drinks and enjoy a delicious lunch of rice balls and freshly grilled trout! You can rent a fishing rod and bait for 250 yen, so you can go fishing even without your own equipment!
Incidentally, the rest area can get very crowded during peak hours, and it can take some time for the fish to be grilled. So please keep this in mind if you are short on time.
13:15 Sweet treats on the Coco Terrace
For lunch we can either go to the Hayashichu fish pond, which we have already mentioned, or to Cocco Terrace, where there is a ramen shop next door.
This shop is known for its egg-based desserts. Here you can enjoy cream puffs, puddings, soft serve ice cream, and much more.
A break with a sweet treat after lunch makes the afternoon trip even more enjoyable. It's also an ideal place to find souvenirs.
2:40 PM Enjoy nature in Takino Suzuran Hillside Park

In the afternoon we visited Takino Suzuran Hillside Park.
This expansive park offers a different panorama in every season and is particularly popular from spring to autumn. Even a stroll through the extensive grounds is very pleasant, allowing one to fully appreciate the natural beauty typical of Hokkaido.
Since it's quite large and trying to see everything would be difficult, I recommend a leisurely stroll and focusing on the areas that interest you most.
15:45 Arrival at Makomanai Takino Cemetery

Next, we will make our way to the Makomanai Takino cemetery.
As I mentioned in my previous blog post, this place is famous for its Moai statues and giant Buddha heads, and offers a unique landscape that makes you wonder: "Is this really a cemetery?"
The tranquil atmosphere is also a major draw and explains why it's a popular tourist destination. It's advisable to note the closing time of the Great Buddha Hall and allow extra time for your visit.
4:25 p.m.: End of the day at Sapporo Art Park

Finally, we visited the Sapporo Art Park.
This popular spot combines nature and art and is particularly inviting for a stroll in the quiet evening hours. Here you can discover new things, find inspiration, and unwind – a highly recommended stop at the end of a car journey.
Enjoy both nature and delicious food in Sapporo – a truly successful road trip!
The course we introduced this time is
1. Typical landscapes of Hokkaido 2. Nature experiences 3. Culinary delights and sweets 4. Art galleries 5. Photo opportunities 6. Fishing experiences
This is a very enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining driving course!
If you visit STAY Moiwayama, you should definitely take a look around!
